Why I Started Writing Completely Anonymously

When you fear the judgement from the people you know, writing anonymously is so liberating

I’m a nobody. I’m pretty sure I don’t even count as a writer. At the time of writing his exact piece, I’ve had 0 views on everything I’ve posted so far. But here I am, writing this, and I love every second of it.

I first started really “writing” during my last semester of university, keeping in mind that I just graduated this past month. Why did I start so late?

How I Discovered Writing

Throughout high school, the only writing I did was for AP English Language, AP English Literature, or my history courses where I would get essays back with red question marks and X’s sprinkled throughout. No compliments, no constructive feedback. Maybe it was because I was known as the smart science girl who got the highest GPA in AP Physics I class despite being a sophomore in a class full of juniors and seniors, or maybe because I was awarded as the best IB Higher Level Chemistry student my year, or maybe because I taught myself how to code. Maybe my English teachers assumed that a hard science, Asian girl couldn’t appreciate the beauty of good writing, or maybe they deemed me a lost cause.
